The Author
I am an analyst and teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.  My first attempt at writing was a ten page essay to my Pastor describing The Rapture and the Season of Yeshua’s Return.  From there, it progressed into emails and letters to friends and family and then became a series of classes entitled: “Understanding the Times: An Overview of End Times: Teachings for Study and Discussion”.This blog began as a quick way to distribute class material to the student’s.

Today’s Focus
Today, retirement allows me to concentrate on studying the Rapture and the Season of Yeshua’s Return, to blog, write, and teach what I learn, and to focus more so on Biblical exposition — hence the change in banner title to Jeff’s Jots — Understanding the Scriptures, and less so on the worldly happenings.

The Scripture Quotations
Like many commentators, I read and analyze a minimum of six translations, one or more paraphrases, and then look up the Hebrew or Greek words. Once I have a clear image of the sense of the verse, or paragraph, I put my analysis into modern American-English sixth grade level wording, but retain the Hebrew words for names and often places as well. As needed, I will also include the Hebrew or Greek words and definitions for the English words that are used.  Friends and foes affectionately call this the PJT (Professor Jeff Translation)!

I know that this method may be upsetting to some, but every single English, Spanish, Latin, or other language translation from the original Hebrew or Greek is the translator’s (or multiple translators’s) understanding of the original languages. I simply do the same as they have done before putting it to the page, in accordance with 1 Peter 3:15. I contend that one only becomes able to fully explain the hope one has within once the scriptures have been internalized, and that just quoting isn’t a sign of internalization!   Even the kings of old were required to write the Torah in thier own handwriting (Deuteronomy 17:18).

Final Thought for 2016
Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew Prophets. The day is coming when Yahweh will show his strength on the mountains of Israel. What is prophesied will come to pass, what is foretold will be made known. Time is short – Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is coming soon – get busy reaching the lost

God Bless,
Jeff VH
