Useless As – 5

March 20, 2014

Opening Prayer
Abba Father, forgive us for repeating history – today we commit the same abominations that those of the past committed.  In Yeshua’s name I pray.  Amen.

The Useless as series has been difficult to write.  Today, I conclude the Useless As series with an inside look at our modern day temple, the church, and draw some similar parallels to Ezekiel’s inside look at the historical temple.  I suspect that Ezekiel found Yahweh’s tour of the temple just as upsetting as my tour of today’s modern church.

Comparison  to Ezekiel
Ezekiel 8:13, 8:15, 8:17  – “You will see still greater abominations which they are committing.”

Ezekiel chapters eight and nine tell us of an insight that the prophet Ezekiel was given into the goings on inside and outside the temple.  It is amazing, frightening, and upsetting that not much has changed.  The modern church is following along in the same path.

The American Flag
Ezekiel 8:5 – “To the north of the altar gate was this idol of jealousy at the entrance.”
Do not think that I have any objection to our American Flag, no matter how sullied it has become in the past few years.  However, Yeshua clearly commanded that we are to separate the things that belong to the government and the things that belong to Yahweh (Matthew 22:16-21).  Why then, do we display the symbols of the government in an area that belongs to Yahweh? Are we simply repeating Rome’s display of the Eagle at the temple entrance? Are they not provoking Yahweh’s jealousy by doing so?  I say that they are.  Not much has changed, has it!

Other Idols
Ezekiel 8:10 – “Behold, every form of creeping things and beasts and detestable things, with all the idols of the house of Israel, were carved on the wall all around.
Paintings and pictures of the “blond haired Jesus”, looking nothing like the real Yeshua.  Statues of “Jesus Christ”, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of the Saints, of the Angels, , etc.  Stations of the Cross, Crucifixes, Crosses, Nativity Sets and more.  Are they not adorning our churches with idols and provoking Yahweh’s jealousy by doing so?  I say that they are.  Not much has changed, has it!

Weeping for Tammuz
Ezekiel 8:14 – “Behold, the women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz.”
In many eastern societies, like Babylon, the people would mark the decline in daylight hours and the onset of winter with a six-day memorial service for the god, Tammuz, weeping for him as if he would never return. Today we still weep for Tammuz, but we call it a funeral. And the music is, well, funereal!  And the homily is so sad, so mournful.   And though we blather on and on about the resurrection, we act as if the person whom we are memorializing is gone forever and forever, never to return. Why do we not highlight his/her resurrection and temporary death?  Why do we not celebrate with joy?  Are they not provoking Yahweh’s jealousy by weeping?  I say that they are.  Not much has changed, has it!

Worshipping the Sun
Ezekiel 8:16 – “Behold, there were men with their backs to the temple prostrating themselves eastward toward the sun.”
How many Easter Sunrise services can one attend in a lifetime?  How many Before The Break Of Dawn Bible studies can one attend in a lifetime?  Dozens, apparently. And let’s not forget Christmas, that former celebration of the Sun Gods that was incorporated into church practices. Are they not provoking Yahweh’s jealousy by worshipping the sun, even if they do so inadvertently or without comprehension of how these occult practices were made part of today’s church celebrations?  I say that they are.  Not much has changed, has it!

Yahweh’s Response
Ezekiel 8:18, 9:10 – “Therefore, I indeed will deal in wrath. My eye will have no pity nor will I spare . . . I will not listen to them, but I will bring their conduct upon their heads.
Yahweh’s response is twofold:
• First, he marks those who sigh and groan over all the abominations that the leadership is either committing or allowing to commit (Ezekiel 9:4).
• Secondly, starting with the elders, he strikes down those who do not sigh and groan – utterly slaying all until the courts of the sanctuary are filled with the slain (Ezekiel 9:5-11).

An open invitation to Heaven may not be an expected response for those who partake but who are not appalled by these abominations.

Conclusion
Yahweh will not condone a land that is filled with the blood of innocents and with perversion.  Nor does he condone a church that does not stand in the gap as a watchman on the wall, especially a church that displays idols, that weeps for Tammuz, that worships the sun.  Are they not provoking Yahweh’s jealousy by doing so?  I say that they are.  Not much has changed, has it!

Closing Prayer
Abba Father, forgive us for repeating history – today we commit the same abominations that those of the past committed.  May those who are committing these atrocities repent and become the leaders and church members that you desire them to be – faithful watchmen on the wall.  In Yeshua’s name I pray.  Amen.

Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew prophets. The stage is being set. History is moving extremely quickly towards the prophesied one world government, the one world financial system, and the rise of both the Antichrist and the False Prophet. The birth pangs are just over the horizon. Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is coming soon – get busy reaching the lost.
