Snatched Away on Rosh Hashanah

September 27, 2011

Rosh Hashanah – Day of the Rapture?
Will I really be snatched up to the clouds September 28th or 29th 2011, to be with Jesus? I sure hope so, but “of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” Matthew 24:36

Jesus cautioned His followers not to speculate on the exact time of the Rapture, but in the light of eternity past and future, “day and hour” is a very narrow slice of time. Jesus gave us at least fifteen specific signs that would be happening in the last days, clearly wanting us to know when the time of His return was rapidly approaching. Many of the fifteen signs are being fulfilled today which strongly indicates we are living in the last days. We are, after all, living through revolutions, wars and rumors of wars, and horrifying persecution, for starters. Without doubt, that “day and hour” is imminent!

So why expect Rosh Hashanah might be the day of the rapture?
Rosh Hashanah is one of the major candidates for the day of the Rapture. Only when two witnesses see the edge of the moon, can the festival start. There is a two day period in which they knew it would happen, but not the exact time. Hence, “You do not know the day or the hour.”

Rosh Hashanah is also called The Feast of Trumpets or the Feast Of The New Moon. Its three main themes are Resurrection of the Righteous, Kingship of the Lord, and Marriage of the Lamb, all rapture images.

Another name for Rosh Hashanah is Yom Hakish – the day of hiding. Those who wait for the rapture expect to be hidden in Heaven during the tribulation period.

The flood came when the fullness of the days of Lot and Noah were complete. The coming of Christ shall be as in the days of Noah. In short, the genetic manipulation and mingling of seeds today points to a time exactly like the time of Noah and Lot when the seed of man, animals, and plants was also corrupt, or mingled.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, the apostle Paul writes that “the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God . . .” The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) uses 100 distinct shofar blasts but only four different types of blasts during the festival. The fourth and final type is known to the Jews as the “Last Trump” or as the “Trump of God”. In Exodus 19, when this trump was sounded, God came down and Moses went up! Paul states that when the trumpet of God sounds, “those who have died believing in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever.”

What If
What if the rapture does not happen tomorrow or the next day? Will you be disappointed?

Remember, its three main themes are Resurrection of the Righteous, Kingship of the Lord, and Marriage of the Lamb, which are also very strong second coming images. The resurrection and judgment of Old Testament peoples occurs just after the second coming of Christ. Believers are ushered into the millennium kingdom, unbelievers are consigned to hell.

Remember, all of the feasts are rehearsals for the real thing. The spring feasts were fulfilled at Christ’s first coming and the fall feasts will ultimately be fulfilled at His second coming.

Remember, in the millennial reign, as in eternity, believers will be “hidden in Christ” forever.

Conclusion:
I know not if I really will be snatched up to the clouds on Rosh Hashanah to be with Jesus. Rosh Hashanah is as good a day as any to pick as an example of what could happen September 28th or 29th, should the Lord decide to call his bride home immediately, but is more accurately a picture of His second coming and beginning of His millennial reign.

While some may be disappointed, I will not be (for long). The Jews for thousands of years proclaimed: “Next year in Jerusalem” until that day in 1967 when Jerusalem was theirs. Until the rapture happens, I will simply continue to proclaim: “Wish I were with you, Jesus, in Heaven. Perhaps today or tomorrow – only your Father truly knows the day and hour. Maranatha! May that day come quickly. Amen and Amen.”

With all of the signs being fulfilled today which strongly indicates we are living in the last days, one can only ask: “How close are we to the return of Christ?”

PS: 9/30/11 – Not surprising, I’m still Here! As expected, since only Yahweh knows the day and hour, I continue to look forward with hope to that glorious day when the rapture occurs. May that day come quickly. Stay tuned for more posts.
